The summer and all its adventures have faded away and now Jem feels distant, disconnected and lost.
His restlessness will not leave him until he goes back: to the depths of the woods, the old woman and her Mihrab, and the Awliya that wait beyond. But this time, he is not prepared for what will meet him there.
Friend and foe are no longer clear. Danger emerges in the places he thought most safe. All he felt he could trust is shaken. He must travel the High Road, through the wilderness, in darkness and confusion, over mist and mountain.
He must find answers, lost friends, the way through, the way forward. And, above all, the truth of who he is and who they are - the Awliya Allah.
